Traduciendo discursos sobre equidad de género en intervenciones escolares: conflictos entre la visibilidad/invisibilidad del género y la construcción de habilidades matemáticas

La diversidad de género en carreras de las ciencias, tecnología, ingeniería y matemáticas (stem, por su sigla en inglés), y diferentes campañas, políticas e intervenciones orientadas a estudiantes en edad escolar, profesores e instituciones educativas son parte de fuertes discursos públicos, tanto internacionalmente como en Chile. En este país las políticas implementadas son jóvenes y no necesariamente llegan a establecimientos pequeños o aislados, dejándolos sin guía sobre cómo implementar iniciativas locales para promover la equidad de género en matemáticas. Este estudio explora cómo el problema de la equidad de género en matemáticas es construido en un establecimiento que de forma espontánea decidió implementar clases de matemáticas en salas de clases segregadas por sexo con el propósito de mejorar el rendimiento y las actitudes de las mujeres en este ramo. En particular, este analiza percepciones de profesores, estudiantes y equipo directivo, explorando discursos que se levantan respecto de las matemáticas, el género y la intervención en el caso específico del establecimiento. Se discuten conflictos que emergen en la aplicación de la intervención debido a la intensa invisibilización y visibilización del género como categoría para entender las construcciones locales de habilidades para aprender y enseñar matemáticas, y para entender actitudes generales y disposiciones de los estudiantes. El explorar estos conflictos ofrece evidencia que afirma la relevancia de incluir reflexión crítica sobre el género en espacios colectivos y el desarrollo de este tipo de intervenciones con constante revisión de las definiciones del problema y sus soluciones.
