Resumen
Se presenta un estudio que permitió desarrollar un instrumento para evaluar una componente del conocimiento pedagógico del contenido para enseñar matemáticas: el conocimiento del profesor acerca de cómo aprenden matemáticas los alumnos. Esta componente ha sido descrita teóricamente por otros autores, pero no había podido ser evaluada de manera fiable en pruebas masivas. En los resultados de la aplicación del instrumento a diferentes grupos de personas, se detectan aspectos del conocimiento que el conocimiento disciplinar no explica, aunque este los afecta. Este tipo de conocimiento se encuentra especialmente en profesores de educación primaria con mención en matemáticas tanto en ejercicio como en formación.
