La formulación y reformulación de problemas o preguntas en el aprendizaje de las matemáticas en el nivel medio superior

Resumen
El estudio documenta los procesos cognitivos mostrados por estudiantes de bachillerato en un curso de cálculo. Los pupilos fueron expuestos a situaciones matemáticas en las cuales no aparecía un problema o pregunta planteado. La tarea de los alumnos fue formular y resolver los problemas o preguntas que podían inferirse a partir de la situación. La orientación pedagógica no fue que los jóvenes asimilaran contenidos, sino que aprendieran una actividad que fuera compatible con el hacer de las matemáticas y con una práctica que necesitarán en el futuro. Uno de los resultados más relevantes fue que los estudiantes, en su primera interacción con la situación, construyeron un modelo inicial. Éste se constituye con elementos parciales u omisión de otros, o no ven cierta información. Esta visión permea la formulación inicial del problema. A medida que los edu- candos interaccionaban con la situación, la formulación del problema reveló un avance por ciclos.
