Formas de aproximar el área bajo una curva: un estudio con estudiantes de bachillerato

En este trabajo caracterizamos cómo estudiantes de bachillerato construyen la idea de aproximación al área de la superficie bajo una curva en un experimento de enseñanza utilizando applets. Las tareas fueron diseñadas atendiendo a una trayectoria hipotética de aprendizaje del concepto de integral definida, considerando las fases de construcción de un concepto apoyadas en la abstracción reflexiva. El análisis de las interacciones entre los estudiantes y sus respuestas permitió identificar tres características en el proceso de construcción de la idea de aproximación al área bajo una curva: sin considerar la idea de aproximación al área como límite de una sucesión; comprensión de la aproximación al área mediante la concepción dinámica y métrica del límite de las sumas superiores e inferiores, pero no de la conexión entre ambas concepciones; y construcción de la idea de cota del error de la aproximación con relación al número de subintervalos de la partición, generada al coordinar las concepciones dinámica y métrica del límite.
