Estimación en la recta numérica y cálculo escrito y mental en alumnado de educación primaria

Resumen
Hay un creciente interés den cómo el alumnado construye y desarrolla un componente importante del sentido numérico: la estimación de números en una recta numérica. Se ha hallado que un buen rendimiento en tareas de estimación se relaciona con mejores habilidades matemáticas (conteo, operaciones aritméticas, comprensión de conceptos,…). En esta comunicación presentamos los resultados encontrados en una muestra de 165 estudiantes de 4º y 5º de primaria en el desarrollo de tareas de estimación y sus relaciones con el cálculo escrito y mental. Los resultados muestran una clara relación entre estimación y cálculo mental. Se detallan algunas implicaciones para su aplicación en la enseñanza de las matemáticas en educación primaria.
