Resumen
Se considera que se vive en una época en la cual es impostergable la implementación de la computadora en la educación. Pero antes de invertir todos los esfuerzos en esa actividad y antes de retomar lo que países más desarrollados ya han hecho, conviene meditar en el tipo de escuela que se necesita, y en la teoría de enseñanza que da fundamento a la acción; observar si esta teoría merece ser sostenida o si es el momento de hacer cambios en ella e implantarlos con un recurso tan dinámico como lo es el computador. La escuela estuvo inmersa por algunos años dentro de las teorías de Transmisión Cultural, y tuvo entre sus principales exponentes a Locke, Pavlov y Skinner (Brito, 1984). La mayor cantidad de aplicaciones que ha tenido el computador en la escuela ha quedado dentro de esta teoría. Muchos de los proyectos de instrucción asistida por computador quedan dentro de esta teoría, con el clásico funcionamiento de ESTIMULO-RESPUESTA.
