Resumen
Este trabajo aporta una revisión de la literatura sobre la educación bilingüe y las matemáticas. En el contexto europeo, la modalidad de educación bilingüe predominante se basa en el enfoque de aprendizaje integrado de contenido y lengua extranjera (AICLE). La revisión llevada a cabo evidencia este estrecho vínculo entre el aprendizaje del contenido y del lenguaje, así como la complejidad que esto supone desde el punto de vista de la investigación. Se ha detectado que la mayor parte de la literatura existente se centra en la incidencia de la educación bilingüe en los procesos y resultados del aprendizaje matemático. A pesar de los costes cognitivos añadidos, existen trabajos que apoyan los beneficios que la educación bilingüe puede generar sobre el aprendizaje matemático.
