La comparación relativa de tamaños: un punto de partida alternativo y viable para la enseñanza de las fracciones

Resumen
Se analizan 14 entrevistas clínicas realizadas a todos los alumnos de un grupo de cuarto grado de primaria en una escuela pública mexicana. Se identifican la diversidad y la naturaleza de los razonamientos que surgieron entre los estudiantes al involucrarse en actividades didácticas que implicaron la comparación relativa de tamaños. Estas actividades se diferencian de las que se utilizan tradicionalmente en la enseñanza inicial de las fracciones en que no se fundamentan en la partición (o repartición) equitativa. Del análisis se desprende que actividades como las que se utilizaron pueden ser un punto de partida viable para la enseñanza de las fracciones.
