Reformas de los currículos escolares en matemáticas en las Américas: el caso de los Estados Unidos de América

Resumen
En los Estados Unidos de América (EUA) cada uno de los 50 estados controla su currículum. En ese contexto el consejo nacional de profesores de matemática (NCTM) ha liderado por casi cuatro décadas un enfoque sostenido en el currículo de matemáticas publicando la agenda para la acción (1980), estándares curriculares y de evaluación para la educación matemática (1989), y Principios y estándares para la educación matemática (2000), entre muchos otros. En 2010 todo el proceso culminó en la presentación de los estándares estatales de base Común (Common Core) por dos grupos no federales, en un esfuerzo por tratar de tener más coherencia en el currículum entre los estados.
